✅ Reported Environmental Achievements
- Reduced carbon emission intensity by 48.4% from 2005 to 2020 (exceeding the target of 40%-45% reduction)
- Increased renewable energy power generation capacity to 930 million kW by the end of 2020, ranking first globally for 16 consecutive years (hydropower), 11 years (wind power), 6 years (photovoltaic power), and 3 years (biomass power).
- Non-fossil energy accounted for 15.9% of total energy consumption in 2020.
- Energy saving exceeding 750 million tons of standard coal in 2020, equivalent to a reduction of approximately 1.61 billion tons of CO2.
- Forest area and forest stock volume increased during the Ninth National Forest Resources Survey (2014-2018), with forest coverage rate reaching 22.96% and forest stock volume reaching 17.56 billion cubic meters.
- Destroyed 70,727 tons of trifluoromethane, equivalent to 828 million tons of CO2, from 2015 to 2020.
